What is PBIS?

Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports (PBIS) is a proactive systems approach to establishing the  behavioral supports and social culture needed for all students in a school to achieve social, emotional, and academic success. PBIS addresses the social and emotional aspects of Response to Intervention (RTI).

Mann School is using PBIS as a tool to teach, reinforce and support positive behavior for all students. The Mustang Motto: Be Respectful, Be Responsible and Be Compassionate (the 3 B's) are the three school wide expected behaviors. Students have a list of very clear behavior expectations to guide their behavior throughout the school. This list, the Behavior Matrix, was created from teacher and student input. The behavior matrix outlines the universal expectations for all students & how the 3 B's should look throughout the school (i.e. in the hallways, classroom, at recess, bathroom, etc). To view the behavior matrix click the link in the navigation bar above. Students can earn Horse Shoe Hoorays by demonstrating the expected behaviors throughout the school day.
